Welcome to Career Portals!!
I am so excited about this year, and I look forward to getting to know you and your child. But, first of all you need to know who I am. My name is Kate Denning, this is my tenth year at Comanche and my fourth year to teach Technology Applications. I am married to Randall Denning and we have two boys, Blake and Layne. My family lives in Gustine. Randall is a life long resident of Comanche county and a graduate of Comanche High School. I moved here in 2000 and graduated from Tarleton State University in 2004. I absolutely love teaching and living in this community.
I think it is very important that you know how I run my classroom and what I expect from your child. I only get 45 minutes a day to share with your child and I try to make the most of that small amount of time. We may have projects that require time outside of class for students to complete. Anything that I assign is to enrich your students learning as well as try to make it fun!
In order for this process to work smoothly and effectively, I have several ground rules that parents and students need to be aware of. Junior High students are at an awkward stage between child and teenager and this is when they start learning habits that will affect them for the rest of their lives. My goal is to teach all my students that they can succeed with the tools I give them. In order to learn the tools, they must come to class prepared with all supplies. They need to come to class ready to work. The hallways in between classes are when socializing can take place.
A professionalism grade will be given to each student each day. Not following clearly defined procedures and expectations will result in loss of points for your student’s cumulative daily quiz grade.
You may check your students grades online via TxConnect or you may email me at [email protected] . You may also call me at school 325-356-5220 or my cell is 325-330-0860, I do receive texts. I try to send out an email newsletter several times during the course of the six weeks or I may just contact you to tell you what an AWESOME child you have. Please feel free to come by and visit our classroom anytime. We always welcome new learners.
Sincerely,
Kate S. Denning
